About us

We are a Mountain Guide agency based in the Italian Western Alps, with over 20 years of experience leading guided tours in the Alps and other parts of the world.

At the core of our work is the belief that nothing is more fulfilling than sharing our passion for the mountains with our guests. It’s often said that being a Mountain Guide is the best job in the world... and indeed, few other professions offer the opportunity to make people’s dreams come true like that of a Mountain Guide.

All of our tours are conducted with an obsessive focus on safety: when people entrust their lives to you, every decision must be made with the utmost seriousness and responsibility.

Below, you can read our manifesto—our guiding principles that define our work at SummitGuides. These values shape everything we do, and all our 30+ guides are committed to bringing them to life in every adventure.

We look forward to spending a great day in the mountains with you!

Our Manifesto

This is our manifesto: the core values of our work, the principles we strive to put into practice every day as mountain guides. It’s not just a list of values made for marketing purposes, but principles we deeply believe in and are committed to upholding daily.

Climbing a mountain might seem like a straightforward task. However, over the years, we’ve seen the most perfect plans fail due to small details that were overlooked. Small errors or omissions in these details can lead to bigger problems down the line. Success often depends on understanding and managing the intricate details. That’s why, at SummitGuides, we make it a priority to handle every single detail with the utmost precision, from the first contact with our clients to the conclusion of the expedition.

At SummitGuides, safety is non-negotiable. We understand that when our guests entrust their adventures to us, they are placing their well-being in our hands. Our top priority is to create a secure environment where everyone can fully enjoy the beauty and thrill of the mountains. Our guides will never push for the summit if it means compromising safety, as we believe that reaching the peak is only half the journey. This unwavering commitment to safety ensures that our guides are not only highly trained and experienced but also dedicated to continuously assessing and managing risks. By prioritizing safety above all else, we provide our guests with peace of mind, allowing them to focus on what truly matters: making unforgettable memories in the great outdoors.

We know that our guests are on vacation when they’re in the mountains with us, and along with safety, they’re also looking for a bit of fun! The days of the “stoic” guides who “carried” clients up the mountain in silence for days are long gone. Our guides love to spend time with clients in the hut, sharing mountain tales (and believe us, they have plenty!) or having a good laugh together when the moment calls for it. After all, we’re Italian, and we carry the sunshine in our hearts!

At SummitGuides, we believe that the mountains are more than just a playground—they are a sanctuary that demands our utmost respect. We are deeply committed to minimizing our environmental impact, whether that’s by reducing waste, or selecting sustainable routes that preserve the natural beauty of the terrain. Our guides teach and lead by example, showing how to enjoy the mountains in a way that protects them for future generations. We aim to cultivate a profound respect for nature in each of our guests, encouraging them to appreciate and safeguard the wilderness as much as we do.

We believe that the experience goes beyond just guiding our guests to the summit. It’s about forming meaningful connections with the people we share the journey with. Whether it's helping someone achieve a lifelong dream, supporting them through challenging moments, or simply sharing stories and laughter in a mountain hut, we value the relationships we build along the way. Our goal is not just to guide a successful climb but to create an unforgettable experience that leaves our guests feeling connected - to the mountains, to us, and to themselves.

We believe that every successful mountain adventure is built on a foundation of teamwork and trust. Climbing a peak or navigating through challenging terrain is not just about individual skill - it’s about working together, supporting one another, and building strong bonds with both guides and fellow adventurers. Our guides foster a spirit of collaboration, encouraging open communication and mutual respect at every stage of the journey. This trust allows us to create a cohesive team dynamic, where each person feels confident, supported, and inspired to achieve their goals while sharing in the collective success of the group.
